Ode to Paula (and Common Bob)

From the year 5 school mums


We have a lovely friend called Paula
Who once let the doctors maul her,
They found a lump in one of her breasts,
And sadly we all know the rest...

Once the chemo had started,
She found that her hair soon departed,
For her hair, I'm sure she did sob,
But not for long - she found 'Common Bob!'

Bob soon became her very close friend,
who would stay with her whilst on the mend,
In the playground she always looked hot stuff
While the rest of us just looked plain rough!

Through it all she has remained so brave,
Even when her head was shaved,
And when clearly tired and in pain,
She could still manage pink Champagne!

Paula, we love your positive style,
And the fact that you never lost your smile...
We admire you Paula, you kept your humour...
All the time you had your tumour!
